SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT

HAZE

Based On The Information Received From National Weather Service, Tiyan Guam And Compiled By The CNMI Emergency Management Office, Office Of The Governor, Acting Governor Timothy P. Villagomez Would Like To Inform the general public that the Haze is not associated with Anatahan or Pagan volcano.

…..SOUTHWEST MONSOON WINDS SPREADING HAZE INTO THE MARIANAS….

West-Southwest Winds has continue to bring in A Plume Of Haze To The Mariana Islands That Will Likely Persist For Several More Days. The Most Probable Source For The Haze Is The Widespread Land-Clearing Fires In Indonesia. The Wind Flow Pattern That Has Been In Place The Last Several Days Is Favorable For Bringing Smoke From Those Fires Across The Southern Philippines And Into The Marianas.

Therefore, Acting Governor Timothy P. Villagomez is advising residents of the Marianas that while The Haze May Reduce The Visibility At Times...It Is NOT Likely To Produce Any Health Problems. Motorists are advised to take precautionary measures while driving on the road due to poor visibility associated with the Haze.

Emergency Management Office Will Continue To Monitor The Development And Will Be Issuing Special Statements Or Advisories As They Become Available.
